I never understood why it was spelled sherbet and is pronounced sherbert 

Sherrrrrr-Baeeeee I think lol always said sher-Burrrttt lol 🍧 

I pronounce it ice cream. Tastes better that way.

I've never noticed. I've always said, "Sherbet." That's kind of like some people where I live say "Chimley" instead of "chimney."

I will not say anything, as I grew up with my mother calling mascara, "mascar-o". 😁 

I said "sherbert" until I saw all over the products how it's spelled. I agree that "sherbet" doesn't seem quite right. I gotta wonder if they changed the spelling of it sometime in the past, like the 60s or 70s.  

Where I grew up…almost every word was pronounced wrong. Terrible dialect and grammar and pronunciation. I’m staying out of this. 😂😂 It’s in me still, I have to watch how I say certain words every day. When my parents visit, I let loose and my hubby and kids don’t know me!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have always said sherbet..I tease my back east Italian husband for saying "Yous" as in, are yous going to the store?" It drives me insane...I guess it's a NJ thing...also he says batrey instead of battery... 

I got auto corrected on my comment..It was supposed to say I pronounce sherbet as sherbert.

Either way it's pronounced, if I see it I'll buy it! That's a "Sher .... Bet"!!!! :-) 

as a kid who moved around a lot, it's not mispronunciation anyways, it's dialect. you want to survive, you learn them.
