Thursday, 4/7/22... Buster has a vet appointment. He isn't doing well with his legs but still seems pretty happy so I just have no idea how much time he has left. We are going to get some xrays to see how bad it is and if there are any next steps to take. The vet always asks- "Is he still eating?" Oh my- he loves to eat and therefore fits right in with the rest of the family. It is hard for me to reduce his food but I have been because he isn't ambulating as much. I feel bad for him- cutting his portions in half because he is such a big guy. I did read that you can add low sodium green beans to make the meal more filling without a lot of calories added. I may start doing that for myself. Just add green beans. 😋😂 Happy Thursday!

He really did, superman. And honestly we just got him from the shelter ten years ago and he's been the best. Aside from loving to eat... He's just got a mean bark that I love when Diablo is working thirds and I'm alone with my girls at night. Would he actually protect me... Eh- who knows but I know he has scared many. 😆🐶

Sorry to hear Buster is going through this, as well as you and your family worrying. Green beans are enjoyable, too, so they sound like a good addition. I know you want Buster to be happy; it’s hard to deny him.

When your dog/pet is sick , I think it's worse than your kids being sick, because pets can't tell you what hurts. Prom! How exciting! I remember those days, so much work, but exciting. I remember one prom I got my 2 girls ready and one of their friends. Always had at least one of their friends at our house helping them get ready for dances. Hope you enjoy every minute of it and your daughter has a wonderful time. 💃

Greens definitely make things more filling. Asparagus is in season, too (for you), as is artichokes, leeks, spinach and all the dark leafy greens, beets, and sugar snap peas. All of these have protein, too, though not mega amounts. But if you're a volume eater like me, a ginormous salad takes a while to eat and has a ton of fiber to keep you full. Sorry to hear about Baby Buster. It's never easy to make end of life decisions, but at least for animals we get to make the choice. Good to hear that prom is on this year -- buying the dress and shoes and looking like a princess for a night is one of those rights of passage. 💃🏻🎈🎉

Buster's report was not good. Aside from the hip dysplasia, which I was pretty certain about... His feet seem floppy. I actually wrapped them for support the other night. I keep doing all kinds of stuff to him to try to make him walk better. Anyhow... He also has spondylosis. The vet said he has a gap between most of his vertebrae. Long story short - it's causing nerve damage and making his feet not be in the right position. 😢 poor guy. He's just going to have to continue on his current meds and get a lot of belly rubs. Sorry. I know it's not fs related. Kat- I don't have my laptop but I can check it later after work. 😉

poor doggie - I hope that whatever decision you make to do the best you can for Buster is enabled by any tests or other information that you can get. My last dog was 14 or so, and when we got xrays we found out that she had extensive bone cancer so the path to help her was clear.

When my pup was losing leg strength, we got him booties that had a rubberized bottom for better grip. It helped for a bit before his strength was just too bad. It might be worth looking into in Amazon

10yrs wow. It’s awesome you rescued him tho. He’s got a better life than most dogs already. All my pups are unwanted dogs that I took in. My brothers dog had a limp hind leg. Took him awhile before it got better. He kept him from running around and it never got better so he just let him be and run on 3 legs and eventually it got better. I guess the muscles strengthened around it. But he’s a younger dog. Hope your boy gets better!
