No walking today...DH was home so he took the dogs. I had a new volunteer commitment at church this AM and decided to go to a neighboring town to shop this afternoon. I probably put on more miles walking while shopping than I would have walking in my neighborhood.

Seriously....I've been needing a bit of retail, but couldn't justify taking the time recently to just go look at what's out there. As a former retailer (and former many other things), I just need to see merchandise. Luckily, I don't have to buy it, but I need to see what's available and what typical prices are. As much as I hated to admit it when I was younger, I'm a retailer at heart. Can't help it. I mentally evaluate merchandise, marketing, service, etc. on an ongoing basis when I'm in a store. Old habits die hard, I guess. I don't miss the hours, the headaches, and the lack of balance in my life, so I'm not (too) tempted to get back into it.

Yesterday, I made up another batch of the Baby Corn Bread to go with the remaining servings of my Pumpkin Chili. I upped the cooking time yet again, and it helped. Probably could even go an additional 3-5 minutes too. Recipe said to bake for 20-25 minutes and the latest loaf was baked for 40!

Today, I tried out one of the smoothie recipes in the Atkins book. Turned out great, but I guess I put too many strawberries in it because my NCs came out much higher than the book's stated 6 NC. I have a hard time judging berries and veggies in cups, or portions thereof. Ounces work better for me for those foods, so that's where I got off track on the recipe. And, I used fresh strawberries rather than frozen. Still, the strawberry smoothie was good for a change of pace and I just made some adjustments for dinner so my numbers would all work out.

Glad you got some retail therapy. Isn't it so nice to walk amongst "the pretties"?! LOL I, too, love to window shop - just to take a look see what's out there; and I am also a frugal, price/value analyzer, too. I love the variety displayed in your eating plan. Hope you get your fruit measuring quandry adjusted so you will be happy with the outcome. Hope your weekend is terrific, friend! Love ya!
