Signed up for my first dietbet today. Based upon my starting weight, I need to drop just under 8 pounds for the month of February. Final weigh in is February 28th. I don't feel that January has been hugely successful. I am down about 9 pounds for the month of January, but I felt like I could do more. Here is to hoping that I don't lose my $20 bet.

Ran 5 miles last night at a snail-like pace. But, I suppose it was faster than the pace of sitting on the couch. No soreness. Nothing. In fact, it doesn't even feel like I ran yesterday. Maybe I didn't push myself enough??? Planning to do 3 tonight followed by my long run (10 miler) on Sunday. It amazes me at how what use to be my goal mileage is now more like just a warm up. I woke up this morning smiling and thinking to myself "Yay! It is a 3 mile night!" I do enjoy my long runs just because it gives me more time to myself. But the cold weather and wind has made me a little less excited about being in it for an hour and a half (or more depending on pace).

My carb intake is going to be high today, but I am going to try to keep it under 100 net carbs. I just really wanted oatmeal this morning...and I really want pinto beans for lunch. Comfort food, but it could be worse. The plan is to really knuckle down for February. I am going to try to keep net carbs under 50 grams a day and boost my protein intake up to at least 75 grams a day. I do realize I still need at least two (2) rest days a week for muscle recovery. But, I have slacked off of doing zumba in the mornings before work and I haven't really cross-trained or strength trained at all. I really need to incorporate the zumba mornings at least four times a week. It wakes me up and sets a good mood for the day. And, I need to do some cross training/strength training at least two days a week as well.

So, tomorrow is a rest day from running. But, I will do some zumba and pump some weight. I don't have any real plans for this weekend. I am "on call", the husband is working, son is planning to attend a family event with his girlfriend and the daughter has an archery competition hours away that I cannot attend due to my "on call" status. This means I have the house all to myself tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it (assuming I don't get called out). February is looking better and better. Here is hoping the rest of 2014 will be nothing like January.

In all fairness it was 9 pounds following the return from the cruise. I was at 188.9 right before I had left on the cruise. So I guess I really am only down 5.6 pounds total for the month of January.
