JennBuck61's Journal, 18 Dec 13

I am down 1/2 lb today to 212.5. Yesterday was the day from hell in so many ways! I had a 3 hour white knuckle ride to work (it normally takes 30 - 40 minutes). Snow, accidents, stalled vehicles ... it was all there. I saw an SUV and a car overturned in a ditch - one driver was standing outside in the ditch scratching his head like "what just happened here?". I was thinking "lucky to be alive Mister". It was TREACHEROUS. I was late for my first meeting ...not that it mattered. The person I was meeting with was smarter than me re: the weather, so he stayed home. My 11:30 am was in the office though so it was not a total waste. I missed lunch because of errands. 2 hour drive home (weather was only marginally better) followed by a promised shopping outing for my kids (2 hours of walking around in a mall is not my idea of fun!). When I finally got home I ate dinner and promptly had to start wrapping and bagging gifts for my kids' friends since it was now very late (little one had to go to bed and the big one had to study for math and french test today). All I can say is thank God for gift bags and that yesterday eventually ended! I get to start over today and it will be busy again but I think it will be better than yesterday. My youngest is the narrator for the school holiday play today and they have two sittings - 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm. I'll be there with bells on!

I'm glad you are safe. My daughter left Kingston by Bus to Toronto on Saturday morning (in the snow storm). Got to Washington, flight to Roanoke cancelled. Had to sleep at airport for flight at 8am next morning to Charlotte then on to Roanoke only to have baggage not show up. She got her baggage yesterday and is enjoying the warm weather - crazy times. When it snows down here everything basically shuts down - so funny.

Oh my goodness - glad she made it there safe as well. Yes, I know what you mean ... I noticed the same thing in Germany. I was stranded there because they grounded flights due to the snow .... it was hardly 2 cm. The kind of stuff we hardly notice in Canada :)
