2ManyCurves's Journal, 12 Dec 13

I am lacking motivation today. Husband made the BEST pinto bean soup with cornbread I've ever eaten. I ate two bowls. I'm over on my RDI today. I've just felt so hungry all day today. I could not get enough to eat. And, now it is taking all I have to get my butt out of this recliner to go do my jog. I even watched an animated Christmas Carol all alone to procrastinate. It is freezing outside. I'm sleepy and well-fed. It would be so easy just to curl up in bed and put on another Christmas special. Short day at work tomorrow. I've been ready for this week to be over. However, we are having our annual Christmas luncheon at a steak house. I will likely order a 6 ounce sirloin and a salad. For dinner, I am going to eat more of those wonderful beans. I have yet another 5K Saturday morning. I'm looking forward to it. The last practice run I did took quite a bit of time off my mile, so I am hoping for a personal record this Saturday. It will be a fun event regardless. They have an ugly sweater costume and I'm planning to dress up my dog too with garland, bells and a blinged-out Santa hat. Saturday evening, I will be returning to the same steakhouse to celebrate my brother coming home from Afganistan. I'm looking forward to seeing him as it has been nearly a year. I generally try not to eat beef more than two times a week. I read somewhere that you should limit red meat when dieting. But, frankly, the nutritional composition doesn't look that bad to me. And, I've not seen any adverse results on the scales from eating it more frequently. I think it was just one of those "diet tips" I grew up hearing like...nuts are bad for you because they're high in fat. But, it is ingrained in my psyche so much that I still attempt to avoid red meat more than twice a week. I need to bring down my calories the next two days to compensate for my last two days I believe. I'm not terribly far over, but far enough to make me feel uncomfortable. I still like to see at least a 2 pound loss per week so that I feel I am progressing.

Vacation is quickly approaching. I am a little worried about finances now. After buying my entire family a cruise, I got hit with tenant changeovers, expensive repairs to a damaged rental house, medical bills from my son's head injury, taxes (always), etc. I don't want to bring more financial strife my way by airing negativity. But, needless to say, I don't have as much padding available now for the vacation as I had planned. I am still very blessed and thankful that I have finally been able to do something nice for my parents after all of these years. I will just need to be a little more frugal about my spending, especially for Christmas presents for everyone. I fear it will be tough after the first of the year as I really haven't had much new business come in the door in some time. That doesn't usually pick up anyway until people started receiving their tax returns.

Husband passed this semester of school thankfully. One semester left of full time course work and then he can transfer to a slower-paced, part time program to work towards his nurse practitioner certification. I will be very glad when he finishes his full time studies next May so that we can have some added income. I'm sure he will be too. It is a strain on a family of four when only one is able to work full-time and you are looking at two teenagers to put through college. My son takes the ACT this Saturday (at the same place the 5K is being held actually). I am praying he gets a decent score so as to earn some scholarships.

Ok. Time to quit procrastinating. I'm off to slip into some under armour so I can freeze my butt off. I need to lose it one way or another I suppose.

I love Pinto beans..and cornbread...I used to cook them from scratch but use the fat free canned ones now..because there is only the two of us... What kind of furbaby to you have...I had a poodle, Rottie and a mixed at one time...Loved each and every one...til they passed....That was sweet of you to give a cruise...I'm sure they will love it...Have a great day...Bren

My running fur-baby is a giant white lab/german shepherd cross. But, I also have a French bulldog and a Boston Terrier...and we acquired a kitten from my son's girlfriend. Kitten is confused and believes he is a dog I think. Those are the inside animals... Outside, I have one donkey, two miniature horses, one pony, and twelve horses. We also get cattle from time to time, but do not have any currently through the winter. One of the first dogs I ever got as an adult was a Rottie. I bought her when I lived in Germany and brought her back home with me. She was one of the best dogs ever but she passed about eight years ago.
