I really wish I could!!!! I could bring a rose bouquet to your desert land, and you could provide a lesson for me on birds! 😁 I do have a question! So, here we only have crows, but high in the mountains where my family is from in Canada, they ONLY have ravens. Do you have both? Do you live out in the countryside. My mind can not connect a raven with anything but high elevations.

That looks so great! And meat-free would be right up my alley. Enjoy!

I would treasure that rose bouquet, Melissa! My understanding about Crows and Ravens is that they can and do live in the same areas. We live in the foothills of the Sierra Pelona so there's a mix of both crows and ravens. Crows do tend to gather in larger groups where Ravens are usually small groups of two. (Although you may see Raven groups of three or four. If it's parents and young ones.) I'm in a mostly urban/ suburban environment. The Crows around here are large, aggressive, and fully used to living around and amongst people. We do have both - but the Crows are a lot more territorial so they're overrunning our neighborhood Another neat fact that you may or may not, find interesting. Birds that live in urban environments start mimicking the sounds of where they live. I've noticed birds in parking lots making car alarm noises. I found some pictures of Nell (the inside house sparrow) when we were still bottle feeding her. I'll upload them for you here.

Thank you for the lesson again! I have two neighbors who when they were teens each raised crow babies. Oh the stories those fellows tell! One crow eventually became part of a crow family, but would come back for years to visit when the lad was outside, and without warning it would fly onto his shoulder... Apparently finding great delight in startling his one time rescuer! 😁

I absolutely believe it! Somewhere, I have pictures from when I got to visit a ranch where they train animals for movies, they had several corvids and these guys were insanely smart. They were much, much, smarter than the owls or hawks. I can imagine exactly how startling it would be. They make a noise that I swear is laughing. :D
