I've been struggling emotionally. My life was going to be super cool this summer. But with COVID, none of the things that were planned are going to happen.
It's fine. In the grand scheme of things, me not getting to go on the road and play roadie and then, rock star are not a big deal.
I'll get to do it next summer when I'm more fit, at my goal and in maintenance.
BUT.
The stress and disappointment have me reaching for things that aren't the healthiest.
(Lest you assume that all vegans are effortlessly healthy, I'll have you know that original Oreos and Lay's potato chips are vegan too.)
I'm staying under calories, I'm working out, I'm mostly staying on plan but I can't avoid the emotional stuff and I have to acknowledge and address the feelings instead of avoiding them and ignoring them.
So here's to owning my shit and taking accountability for my choices.

I'm not vegan, but my girlfriend is and you're absolutely right - there are plenty of unhealthy options. But those Daiya pizzas are SO good!
Sorry your summer didn't work out as planned. I suppose you could repetitively lift a 4x12 cabinet and/or bags of drum hardware (seriously, do cymbal stands need to be THAT heavy?) in order to get the roadie experience AND exercise 😁

I didn't love the Daiya pizzas when I tried them years ago. But several of my omniovore friends rave about them so I really should give them a go again.
I do love the Sweet Earth pizzas but not all of them are vegan.
I used to help my drummer with load and unload - tbf - does any of it really NEED to be that heavy?
(This is probably where a drummer steps in and explains why all of their stuff is so heavy.)
I jokingly said last night that I guess I could push my bass amp around the garage for a few hours and walk the neighborhood with my mic but I don't think it would be anywhere near as much fun. 😂

I found them in the early 90's. I'm a Rollins fan because he was the vocalist that I discovered Black Flag with. 🙂

Henry is my favorite too (with Dez being my least favorite, but I don't dislike him). Early Rollins Band is pretty good too, but they lost me on everything after The End Of Silence.

i am sorry to hear you are struggling. understandable. there is that sense of being caught between start/stop ... it is good you share and are aware. this is terribly difficult time - yet, there is always something to learn or build upon, even if it is not what you planned. then again, there are times where i am overcome with anxiety, so ... what do i know. hang in there, atriel.

Hey there Bre_e_co, I'm so sorry that you deal with anxiety. It's a bitch for sure. I'm mostly being a child and petulant because I can't do the fun things I wanted to do. It's so stupid and so very small in the grander, larger, scheme. Disappointment is normal. Tanking a way of living and personal health shouldn't be. It's the smallest of baby steps but I'm getting there.

Ryan - SAME! I'm a huge fan of Rollins' spoken word. I got to see him in Kansas City about 5 years ago, I think. He's not nearly as angry as he used to be but it was still a great show.
