I thought I had been good weighing out all food, but I have been taking FS for granted. For instance I have bacon every morning and have been logging 2 slices of 'Bacon (Cured, Broiled, Pan-Fried or Roasted, Cooked)' which logs as 1.42 carb / 13.65 protein / 171 cals.

I weighed the cooked bacon which came to 1.4 ounces for 2 slices, this came out as .57 carb / 14.70 protein / 215 cals.

Which is lower on carbs but higher in protein and cals. It isn't a lot of difference, but not being accurate can mount up in a day.

Old English verb comes to mind about watching pennies and the £'s will look after themselves.

I enter a new food for everything I eat that has a label, from bacon to sausage and everything in between if it is not listed exactly as my package says. Then if you buy the same brand, it is always there and always accurate. And I weigh everything too.

one ounce of lettuce??? did you really measure that? (this was from today's menu 10/20). You are still overcarbing. Don't forget to round up your totals on your own. go through and count...if it is 1.58 = 2 carbs. (then go back and add only your veggies...and see if they are in the 12-15 range ???) then you can tell if you're getting the balance you need from their intake. You ARE still doing a great job...and I am happy that you are so willing to learn as you go...and then apply what you learn! You're a winner, Jen! You're on your way...

Thanks Paula, I have adjusted my dinner for tonight so now I'm under 20 total carbs. Three different veg for lunch is decadent and really isn't necessary so I will watch out for that. I've really upped my protein and fat over the last few days which has hired the calorie count, but it is till under the RDI. And yes... lol.... I do weigh an ounce of lettuce - afterall it is 5% of my quota in total carbs :) Also going back and putting my food log on a spreadsheet, this way I will be able to see where I am going wrong. Hi FF - thanks for the tip and advice. Help is always welcome. x

I bought a Escali scale to weigh all my foods, and what a difference in weight vs. measuring. Before weighing, I was measuring my foods and didn't realize I was going way over the carb limit. Since I've been weighing, I've been losing. If I'm away from home eating out, then I will measure unless I remember to bring my scale. Some places are inappropriate though to take a scale. So then it is guesstimated.lol I'm for the weighing the foods instead of measuring. Just my opinion!!!!
