Sandy701's Journal, 13 Oct 10

Walking total today is 3.3 miles (2.6 with doggies, rest by myself), bring my weekly total to 9.4 miles and my challenge total to 46.1 miles. I should hit the 50-mile challenged mark on Friday, leaving 8-9 days of bonus walking left in the challenge.

I came very close to breaking into the 180's today, but I'm not quite there yet. The very upper 180's is a mark that I can associate with a certain time in my life, so that helps pinpoint what "old" clothes might fit when I get there.

A pound may not make that much difference, but to get into that range and out of the 190's will be another milestone. It seems like I'm finally getting to a point where just about every 10- or even 5-pound mark will signify something. I mean, losing the very first 5 pounds was great, but there were at least 85 more to go, so I didn't feel a real sense of celebration. Now, after losing 45 pounds, the next chunk will be a 50-pound loss, then 55 pounds, etc. We're talking serious weight here! How many people, not on this site, do we know that have lost 45, 50, 55 pounds or even more??

Yesterday, I decided to push the ReddiWip into the back of the 'frig and also to not eat anything with sugar alcohols. Just testing to see if it makes any difference. That ReddiWip still calls to me more than it should...I wonder if it's because it's so easy to eat or if it has something to do with the added sugar in the product.

Yesterday, I also had what was probably my last swim for the season. The rain stopped finally, so I hopped in - just 'cuz I could! We don't actually close the pool, so there's always the possibility of swimming again, with the heater, of course, if we get a stretch of very warm weather later in the year.

OK....adding more to an already-long journal entry. Just got an email from DH. They had a potluck lunch at work. Last week, he was at a loss as to what to bring, as he's pretty much doing Atkins along with me. I gave him a couple alternatives and he decided on a raw veggie tray with ranch dressing as a dip.

He happened to notice on the sign-up sheet, that no one had yet signed up for any kind of main dish so he was afraid they'd just end up with casseroles, which he couldn't eat. I told him to pack his usual lunch so that if nothing Atkins-friendly ended up on the menu, he'd still be OK. Sure enough, when the people in charge of this luncheon saw no main dishes, they ordered pizzas! Nearly all the food was not OK on Atkins, so he was SUPER glad he had thought to bring his own lunch - just in case. Just got another email; apparently his purple cauliflower was quite the topic of conversation! It's not that uncommon, but I guess no one else had actually purchased it to see that it tastes exactly like regular cauliflower!

You are doing so well and your journal sounds so positive. Yes it would be great to break in2 180s, abd yes 5 lb blocks are great. My pal doing weight watchers, she is the plainest eater I've ever meet, down 2 stone i 15 weeks, the perfect way to lose it but few times she was upset at "slow" loss s told her do it in 1/4 stone blocks, 3 1/2 lbs, that works perfect for her she is down now to 11 stone, and says its the small targets that is helping her. Stay strong and focus, you are doing brill

Congrats on the 45 lb weight loss. That is fantastic. And to be so close to the 180's. I can't imagine what that would feel like as have a ways to go yet. Enjoy every increment. You have done an amazing job. And kudos to your husband for doing this with you. Its so much nicer (perhaps a little easier) when the 2 of you are doing it together. And smart choice taking his own lunch.
