Sandy701's Journal, 11 Sep 10

Walked 3.1 miles in the heat this AM. I had a really hard time early on, as it was 88 degrees when I began at about 10 and was in the 90's when I finished with a heat index over 100 by then. I thought we were done with that weather!! The good news is that I did it, at speed, and it makes it easy to get my water intake up.

I had thought to mow the lawn today, but this heat and humidity is too much for me. A dip in the pool seems more likely.

When I went to buy my hair color product yesterday, I noticed they were having walk-in flu shots so I signed up. I had to chuckle when I got to this question on the form..."Are you allergic to eggs...?" I felt like writing, "I'm on Atkins! Of COURSE, I'm NOT allergic to eggs!" But, of course, I just checked the box for "no."

I know a lot of people are saddened to hear the news of Keli's cousin. But, I still hope everyone can try to manage a relaxing, restful weekend.

Good for you for sticking to the exercise today. I know that is so hard to do in the heat. You won't regret it!

You are doing soooo well. I couldn't live in that weather. I would be a puddle on the floor somewhere.

Oh, Sandy, you are really doing fantastic. To walk in that heat.....wow....I am so glad that our weather has changed for the cooler! I was a puddle of sweat when I was walking on those 110-115 heat index days. Today is much better, about 77 degrees with an expected high of 82. Of course, the humidity is off the charts since we had 4 inches of rain overnight. The good thing about that...it made it much easier for the sewer guys to dig up the old lines. Thank goodness that's all taken care of!

Thanks for the encouragement, HB. Kboat, I kinda felt like a puddle when I got done. There've been a few days like this a month ago, but at least then it was somewhat cloudy. Not so today - full sun and only an occasional breeze. I went from one side of the road to the other, wherever I could find just a bit of shade, but by 10-ish, there just wasn't that much Probably should have gone much earlier, but I got caught up in a 9/11 special last night and didn't go to bed until after midnight. So, DH got the dogs out early this AM so I could stay in bed a bit longer. Stef, I knew I was going to have trouble when the sweat was already popping out of every pore on my arms and I was just into the first of 4 side streets I typically walk. But, I'm due for a day off tomorrow because it's just easier to get to church that way. Maybe by Monday, we can go back to more fall-ish weather (for here). I bet that rain made it easier but a whole lot messier for the sewer guys. Glad you got the thing fixed.

That is the same reason that Sunday is my day off, also, although I do have to do my Si6 and Pilates tomorrow since I missed Wednesday due to the septic problems. And yes it was easier, and actually they didn't make much of a mess at all. I was very pleasantly surprised!
