Ali0678's Journal, 15 Feb 20

Today is Day 1 v10000. I have struggled with my weight for so many years. This year I have to make progress, as I am heading towards a gallbladder removal operation, hopefully in the next few months. It's only a key-hole procedure, but I still need to reduce the fat around my middle as much as I can to make things go more smoothly.

So here I am, trying yet another website/ community. I'm all about the fresh start!

I weigh in on Mondays but I am not going to wait another day. Sunday I start logging my food again and aiming for the 1800 calorie limit this site has given me. I'm going for a weekly deficit though, so I'll have some lower days and some higher days, to keep things interesting.

I don't currently exercise so I am not going to log exercise calories. They will be a bonus if they happen. Right now I need to focus on food. I'll be using this journal to record my ups and downs on this journey.

I would just like to welcome to FS. and wish you well, there are some nice people on this site, they will support and encourage you to reach your goal. I hope you will reconsider with the exercise diary as it just gives you a idea of how many calories your body is using up. I just put the everyday things I do, TV, washing up, driving etc. if you have a phone that tracks steps/miles as I have, I put 1 hour walking for every 3 mile.stay happy.

Good luck. One thing I do is allow myself a little bit of cheating rather than being strict all the time. It stops me beating myself up.

Good luck with your weight-loss journey: we've all been there and know how hard it can be at times. But never give up - especially when you feel you're not losing any weight. And if possible always have a "Just Say No" post-it note in your mind's eye when you have cravings to snack or buy naughty food when you go shopping! Saying "no" is half the battle won

Thank you all for the welcome & encouragement! I'll reconsider using the fitness diary at some point, but right now I just need to keep things simple :)

Welcome Ali, I started this app beginning of this year and finding it useful. And the banter is good too. Good luck, let’s hope 2020 is our year for doing this.

I had my gallbladder out, and I found a great help was a packet of stock cubes, and a big pack of plain cous cous. I still use it now, make the cous cous up weigh out 52gms dry, add some stock cube, warm a can of whatever soup you like and then pour it over, its a very filling meal, and not many cals. Good luck.
