Is that you on the black bike?

Yes Dave. Whilst it may look a cool drift... it is just before a violent high side 😫

Ouch just reading about your injuries on the other post. It's a Fab picture though before it all goes wrong. Where are you racing there and what bike class do you ride?

Yes that was my last race. At Snetterton with Bemsee. I was in Rookie 1000’s as I’d not raced since 2017. Then I rode in an Endurance team which gives a lot of track time compared to sprints. My bikes are a bit old now compared to a lot and don’t have the electronics of modern stuff but the black bike is nearly 200bhp at the wheel with nothing other than my wrist to stop bad stuff. Got it a little wrong as I had it spinning the wheel before even the apex 😖

I've watched racing at Cadwell, Donington and Brands Hatch before. Have you ever tried motorcycle trials riding before? Road racers usually do okay at it even though it's so opposite like going slow not racing. Mick Grant rides in some events I enter and he's really good at it. Its a bit safer than racing like lol.

I haven’t Dave. Other than stuff on a mountain bike which isn’t the right bike for it. I’m impressed with the skills and balance of it I must admit! Saw a chap doing stuff at the side of the road on the way pack from Lincolnshire recently and thought it took some skills. A lot of road racers do off road for the drift skills and control turns on the throttle ability. As you say I’m less likely to get hurt on trials 🤗

Yes lots of skill throttle control. That's what I noticed with Mick Grant. His throttle control and steering is spot on.

I need to try it I think Dave. Thanks for the tips 👍🏻

😂😂 thank you 🔑 I said similar at about myself at that very point before the bike spat me off 🤣🤣🏍🤸🏻💥

Give it a go 🔑 I’d never recommend bikes to anyone but once you do it f**k me it’s addictive. Maybe it’s silly but you feel more alive doing it on the edge of your ability, getting away with stuff that could result in injury and shrugging it off as part of racing is pretty cool imo. Luckily track is the safest place to do it. TT still sets what little hair I have on end. That’s proper exhilarating stuff!

I bet the drift was awesome, can I ask did you mean to drift or was it just one of those times when something that can turn so wrong looked absolutely outrageous? One of my most favourite videos is when Max Biaggi did the wheelie and it when so far back it nearly flapped but with a bit of a wobble he pulled it back 👌💪

Wowsers!

That should have said went lol, when you get 50 mate you can keep everything going apart from the eyes without the reading glasses I’m knackered lol.

Yes Paul the Biaggi moment is quite special beyond vertical with his hand fully wound the throttle back closed 😂😂 I can drift to a point and don’t mind the back spinning but I just cranked it on way too hard. The following pic from the series the chap behind has hardly moved and I’m meters away with a fully compressed rear on the bike with the front starting to lift. It then sprung up and sideward and the rest is me upside sown falling to earth. So I can slide the rear within reason and tend to on fast sweepers but this was not intended to the degree shown 😂

Probably my first words once I stopped bunty 😄

When you was sliding along with your leathers on I bet it felt like it was lasting forever!
10 Feb 20 by member: paulw69
Tbf it was too bad. Was aware I slid along on my front for a bit. And noticed my helmet sliding in my visor. Burnt through the Kevlar on my arms but didn’t burn myself was handy

Yeah burns can sometimes be worse then the break, a friend of my brother-in-law who I don’t know if you remember him called Karl Harris a rider from Sheffield who sadly isn’t with us anymore told me when I was once speaking to him he knew some guys who had some really terrible burns from sliding.
