Just checked my blood sugar again at 2:30pm and it's 23...I am not diabetic but have been fasting since last night at about 9pm... I thought low insulin was a good thing? I feel ok...maybe a bit light headed when standing.I had a multi-vitamin, water, and black coffee...

Low blood sugar and low insulin 'can be related' but not directly. For example, I consume a lot of protein. It wont show up in my blood sugar, but it will still cause insulin production.

Right... so it's fine...I must be near ketosis at 2.3... is that correct?

If your blood sugar is that low and you don’t feel it you may need to check your meter against another one. You should be unconscious at 23. If you are talking ketones the it’s probably 2.3 and you are in Ketosis. Which is good. If it’s blood sugar see your doctor ASAP

Are you using US or some other scale? Non diabetics typically run 60s to 90s before meals. There's another scale that shows different values -

Your numbers must not be normal blood glucose measurements, because: 2.3 mmol/L = 41.44 mg/dL and you would be in the hospital. Also, 23 mg/dL would have you in the hospital. I just don't know what "23" means :(

If your BS was that low, you would be dead. Insulin is a very, very important hormone .... we would die without it. It enables glucose to enter cells for energy and stimulates protein synthesis. High levels are seen in diabetes and in metabolic stress (fight or flight reactions). These are abnormal states. I think many people confuse a normal fasting BS/insulin level with a normal post-prandial one. In non-diabetics, the after-meals levels of each go up slightly .... BS may temporarily be 120-140. This is NORMAL !!
