Got to try and be extra good for next 3 days and then on Thursday, we're driving up to Glasgow (from South Devon) for my step-sons wedding! Stopping overnight at Keswick in the Lake District on Thursday night with dinner booked. Large family meal on arrival in Glasgow Friday evening, then the wedding breakfast followed by a big 4 course meal at the reception and then another family meal on the Sunday!! HELP! I'll just have to be as careful as I can I suppose and hope the food isn't too rich in carbs but it's all set menus apparently so no choices!

Lucky you! A Scottish wedding. My Scottish wedding was fantastic - shame about the marriage 😂😂 Be mindful of what you eat and drink but don’t ruin the celebrations for the sake of a kg. You have plenty of days you can be good, not so many weddings to go to. Have fun!

I'm sure I'll enjoy it once I get up there, but a) I'm not a good traveller and my bad leg tends to swell up on long journies, so not looking forward to the journey at all! Plus, b) despite losing weight, I feel a bit like a beached whale in my wedding outfit and also c) I don't really get on with my husband's siblings or his ex-wife and d) I'm not too good at making polite conversation with complete strangers, especially ones speaking unintelligible Glaswegian (which the bride's family will be!) So all in all I'll be very glad when it's all over!! At least we are then going to visit Loch Lomond and the beautiful west coast for a few days after the wedding before attempting the trip home again, so I can look forward to that.

I had the same problem on a family night out at the Indian restaurant. It can be laden with carbs so I stuck to the meat and fish course and ducked the heavy carb stuff like pakoras and naans. I was quite full but no carb overload.

It’s a beautiful area, Carrie. If you’re along Loch Lomond it’s worth going the extra 20-odd miles to Inveraray. A beautiful town on Loch Fyne with food in the George at the top of the Main Street to die for! I used to live in Dunoon and work for the council so often travelled the area. I so miss it.

Thanks Phooka, yes it is a beautiful area. We love Scotland and have had several holidays up there in the past, but not been for a few years. We know both Dunoon & Inverary but have not been to the pub you mention so will try to pay it a visit in your honour.
