SaraRiley's Journal, 04 Nov 23

Good morning everyone, no drop today but I ate supper at 2pm instead of around 12-1pm and drank extra water late last night so probably bloated a little bit from that.. Went to Walmart yesterday and hated it, was there 2hours and got to see my great aunt and had her pray for me and then saw my uncle. Before going there I had gotten a haircut but nothing drastic just got layers and my dead ends cut off she says it will take 2in off and I said nah let's go with 3-4in cut off so that's what she did.. although I am not able to walk around Walmart and I have to use the little scooters I still have been getting out of the house more than I was, but I been trying to walk through Walgreens and dollar store to get some exercise I lean on the carts to take the pressure off my left bad knee/leg, hopefully I can get to where I don't have to lean on the carts and can walk at least 15-30min at a time.. going to be calling my orthopedic surgeon Monday and see if he will schedule my knee surgery since I have now lost the weight he said I would have to loose before he would do surgery. So keep me in your prayers and thoughts 🙏🙏🙏 that I can get the surgery done and get my knee back to where I can walk/stand up like I used to this has been a long time now dealing with it since 2017, I had one surgery for a torn meniscus and Dr said it probably won't help but it did help me and I was able to go shopping and stand up at least 10-15min at a time. but then I re-tore it and it's back to the beginning basically.. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Sara, so lovely that you have reached the point that you may be able to get that surgery. It may be looming in my future also, but I'm not a fan of surgery, so I am hoping for a good prognosis for non-surgical treatments.

Debra I am so happy Ive lost the weight so I can get surgery as long as the surgeon will do it because it's been about 2 years since I saw him last but that first year and I only lost 21lbs didn't change my eating habits and pop. But since I quit drinking pop and have been counting calories and carbs and trying to eat better I've lost the other 40lb in just 4mo so now I am a little bit nervous about getting it done for some reason. The last time I had it done I was a little bit nervous about it but mostly just determined to get it done to see if it would help while it did for a bit but then I re-tore it again and I have been told that the revision surgery to fix it is worse than the original scope surgery to repair the tear and the downtime is about 6weeks , maybe that's why I am more nervous about it this time but I will be so happy if it can fix my knee so I can walk and stand up for more than just the 3-4min I do now, I am not able to walk around and stand up more than 3-4min at a time and do alot of the household chores especially cooking so my husband does it all and here lately I have been able to vacuum or living room and try to help him out. But even then sometimes I have to take a break and then do the rest as my knee killing me so bad. This hopefully will fix it this time and I can get back to doing things like I did in 2015.

Let me also say that as long as I can lean on something to help me take the pressure off my left knee then I can walk and stand up for 15-30 min or longer. Like at Walgreens and dollar store I use the carts to lean on to help me so I can walk through there but at Walmart I use the scooters, it's just to big for me to walk around in there, but sometimes I do walk down the aisle and back to the scooter trying to get more exercise and I can't wait to be able to walk around and do things like everyone else.. thank you for your support and encouragement..

Some of the nervousness is likely because you are doing so well and the surgery down time will be a disruption in your progress, but it's necessary and will be worth it in the end. You have been learning, creating better habits, so being able to move more after the surgery will see you getting back on track quickly and with better results. You are doing great Sara and I know having a healed knee will make it even greater!
