I avoided the cake, but had a traditional cream tea - I used to love them, but this time I found it far too sweet. Hopefully I won't crave them too much in the future.

Gaining 4.9 kg a Week
05 September 2018
9/115
I'm not managing to fast at the moment - though I am doing 22/2 on fasting/eating. My weight stayed the same, but I had a lot of calories yesterday - the shopping came with my treat - pork scratchings - and I ate them.
I know I'm not drinking enough water. Partly due to sleeping so much.
Today is my mother-in-law's (Shirley) 97th birthday.
Have a good one everyone.

I was watching some of the Beckenridge 2018 videos on you tube last night and caught a good one by Steven Phinney about fasting being a double edged sword. He says about the damage that fasting over 48 hours can do. I think that I already knew most of it. I've cut my fasting back to under 48 hours these days anyway, but I know to make sure that I add plenty of sodium, potassium and magnesium and to drink lots, but he's right there does need to be more research done now that it's getting to be so popular. I see on Facebook that there are people fasting for 20, 30 or more days - without their doctor's help.
He is talking about fasting in the purist sense of no calories in.

Losing 5.6 kg a Week
03 September 2018
7/115 contd.
I get asked regularly - why do you fast? Your body needs food for energy.
I have 2 main reasons for it.
1. Fat is energy that your body has stored for when food is short - nowadays we, in the West, don't have food shortages so unless I fast - my body has stored a lot of energy - I just keep on burning the energy that I put in as it's easier to do, and never burn the energy my body has stored for me.
2. I find it easier to not eat. I don't have to think about macros or anything. My blood sugar stays well within non-diabetic limits and that means that if I've indulged - like the ice cream I had last week - it rectifies the problem - where I could slip back into being a diabetic if I didn't.
It's fun too
