shirfleur 1's Journal, 16 Oct 22

I've been on an emotional rollercoaster lately, which is not like me. Anyway, when I get into a blue funk, I just eat whatever. Friday, I made pecan candy, something I haven't done in at least 30 years, and I ate all of it, even though it made me feel sick. Now, that's pretty bad, I must say. So, I haven't done that again, but I haven't been eating well, and I barely got out of bed yesterday. Been watching way too much news. Also, sleeping very poorly, it's 3:30 a.m. right now. I'm trying to do better, just made myself a cup of green tea, which I plan to drink, then turn off the light and try to go back to sleep. Thanks for letting me unload.

Hoping you feel better.

I hope you were able to sleep. Green tea does have caffeine in it but caffeine does not affect some people. I only mention it in the (slight) chance you didn't know. Sometimes, when I feel the way you've described it means I am looking for inspiration. What inspires a person varies by person, but maybe that'll do the trick? ❤

Gezfire, the green tea I drink is caffeine-free, but I appreciate your sharing the information.

I have a screwed up sleep schedule. Awake at 3-4 am so I get up and make breakfast and go back to bed and sleep well until 7 then get up and get the day started. Lunch. At 11 and dinner at 6. It seems to work.

I've been feeling the funk too. Maybe it's the change of season, the news, hard to put a finger on it, but I hope you feel better soon.

If you are in a bit of a funk try to get out for a walk... pick a nice spot promise yourself 10-15 minutes, but then just go as long as you can, you will find that nature the scenery and or the sights will lift you, and the mild exercise will enliven you.. it always works, even better if you do it to a music with a headset on!! If you get a walk in every day you will definitely lift your mood!! All the best L)

I'm sorry you are feeling like that. It's not a good feeling and hopefully you come out of it soon! Maybe if you're able, take a walk, read a book, prep some healthy food so it will be there for you to grab when you are tempted to eat sweets... Take care Shirl, be good to yourself!💜💜💜

I have been in a funk as well. I turn to crap eating way too easily. You are not alone. Just remember to be kind to yourself. These things are going to happen but one day (or week or whatever) is not the rest of our lives. ❤️

oh I feel for you shirlfleur. I'm having a difficult time lately and find myself aimlessly snacking. Hope you bounce back soon.

Thank you all for your kindness and support, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I am unable to take a walk, as I have severe arthritis in my right ankle and am no longer able to walk more than a few feet, even with my walker. Kenna, I love your meal schedule, but it wouldn't work for me. I will try to do better today.

My sweet Shirfleur💕, I can help you with your pecan candy, you can just make it and ship it to me!😋👍 Please post the recipe, wait, maybe not. 🙃 I’m right with you with sleep, if I was up at 3am I’d stay up. Don’t watch the news! Look who’s talking, I watch the ID channel and CourtTV, and it just seems to get worse and worse. Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane. 😁 Yet, this has been going on since we were born. Can’t let it get to you. Look at Cain who murdered Abel, although we’re not that old.🤣 Let’s start behaving better tomorrow, sometimes life is hard and we need treats.🤗❤️

Shrewdness, you are too kind. Fortunately, I cannot post the recipe, as I do not have one. Right now, I'm going to go to the kitchen and make myself a salad for lunch (no recipe for that either). Much healthier than that pecan candy.

I'm sorry to hear about your blue funk. Recognizing it is good start to coming out of it. Try a peaceful walk and get well soon!!!

Oh Shir, this does happen from time to time for me too. I just ride it out and try not to slide all the way down that slippery slope. Sometimes I figure out the reason, sometimes I don't. Hope you are being kind to yourself and feel better soon. ❤️

Maybe try melatonin from Walmart. It helps me. But, even with melatonin if I go to sleep too early, I wake up too early :/

The seasonal change is affecting alot of us adversely. I find it very helpful to just get outside. I suffer with seasonal allergies but setting out in the sun for a few minutes improves my mood enough to out weigh the sneezing. I also take a vitamin D supplement this time of year.

I’m sorry my friend 😞 Switch up your day maybe or try something new? I have been super absent and have no idea of anything going on in your life. That’s all I have to offer, obviously I’m back here…. a smidge…. And it’s been helping me a little bit to refocus. 💜🌈

Sorry about the roller coaster of emotions! I get like that sometimes for a day or two. And I've gone searching the cupboards and everywhere for something bad to eat. Nothing but healthy stuff now. But sometimes I would melt butter with brown sugar and add in chopped walnuts. Haven't done that in awhile. I have the news on all day most days. Trying to watch mostly the local news which is now on from 4am until 10am in the mornings and 4pm until 7:30pm before the later night news comes on. Hope you feel better soon.
