It's been a weird 2 weeks since last weigh in. I came home from vacation, I had gained 5 lbs, immediately went back to eating healthy foods, weighing everything I ate n continued to gain another 2.5 lbs. The last few days I have fallen off the wagon again n ate cookies, Mac n cheese, cake, chips n even some candy n I've lost almost 3 lbs. Anybody else ever have this happen? what gives?

Fluctuations like that are pretty normal. Could be a couple of things. 1. Are you weighing yourself in the same conditions each time? Same time of day, same scale, etc? 2. Water weight can make the scale bounce all over the place on any one given measurement. If it’s not an issue or a trigger for you, weighing in daily and calculating the trend by taking the average of the past 6-12 weigh ins will help dampen out the fluctuations and give you a more accurate picture. 😎

We all are taught in eating healthy foods But if we eat 3000 cals(total calories) of healthy foods we gain weight If we eat total calories of 2000 or less and full of junk foods we ll lose weight It’s just calories in vs calories out And losing weight on eating junk foods is not healthy though it’s better if we gain weight on healthy foods. Probably we ll be satisfied with yummy treats so it’s better to eat 80-90% of targeted calories of healthy foods and reserve 10-20% of targeted calories of our favourite treats as last bite this way we ll enjoy eating and still lose weight It’s all about balance 😇

Thank u for the different perspective. I will keep at my goal n eat healthier foods. I agree I would rather gain weight eating good food than losing weight eating junk. I think my body is still trying to figure out what I did to it the 10 days of vacation eating. I'm not willing to sabotage myself again with massive weight gain, so I will stick to what I was doing before n get back on track. Does anyone do occasional cheat meals? What's your thoughts on it?

My first thought is to change the title from a “Cheat” meal to a “Treat” meal. It sounds dumb, but subconsciously, switching from a negative label to a positive one can really impact how we approach things over time. I don’t have “cheat meals” because there is nothing that is completely “off limits” in my “diet” or “way of eating”. That doesn’t mean it’s a free for all. What it really means is that for 80% or better, I try to stick to goal supporting foods and portion sizes. But it also means I will allow myself to indulge in whatever (within reasonable limits of course) for the other 20% or less. What I do think IS important though, is not to string multiple cheats or treats together in a row. If I know that I will be, like around Christmas for example, I will definitely do my best to make sure exercise is remaining consistent. (Vice versa too. When I’m not motivated to exercise, I really try to be more strict with my nutrition.) This last part is a recent shift for me. I really used to be “all or nothing” guy. When I was eating well, I was working out consistently. When I was eating poorly, I also wasn’t training. This has been one of my more difficult shifts to make, but I think it’s paying dividends when I stick to it!

Your body is still figuring out the change and needs time to readjust. Be kind to yourself & don’t get discouraged. It’s not significant that you fell off the wagon but more importantly you get back on. You got this
