I liked the recipe (I cooked it as written this first time out). It is a little on the bland side, as written, but is an excellent basis for a fair number of "tweaked" versions. I'll eat this again, and enjoy playing with it a little to spruce it up. Good base recipe!

I made this today with one minor change. I didn't add tomato's to it. Instead, I made a side dish of stewed tomato's. This is a great recipe. I love fried cabbage and all types of sausage.

After reading the other two reviews, I was prepared to tweek this a little as I cooked. I added garlic to the recipe, and cooked the sausage first. I used fresh tomatoes and three poblano chilis instead of canned... I think it turned out pretty good, but I felt it needed something. I'm going to have to think on it, but overall I thought it was a good recipe.

I found the base recipe very bland and would rate the base recipe a 2. As improvements I sliced the sausage and cooked it prior to adding the cabbage and onions. I added: 1/2 teaspoon of salt. 1/4 cup of beef broth before simmering 1 teaspoon of beef base 1 tablespoons of tomato paste The recipe should indicate the cabbage and sausage should be sliced. Brown the sausage, then add the cabbage and onions. Saute for 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients including the salt, tomato paste, beef base, and beef broth. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the cover and cook on medium high until the broth cooks down and becomes a sauce.
