kattay's Journal, 28 Oct 14

Salt is talking back, wrecking havoc on my goals. This week has been one of those weeks. Tried raising calorie, etc. Had the tykes over one night. We had a higher calorie, high carb dinner than anticipated. Popcorn for snack. Daughter invited me over for dinner. Teriyaki chicken over salad greens had too much salt but was delicious. We all decided against the rice that the chicken was supposed to be with. Yay, one good thing food wise. Had a great time on all counts until I stepped on the scales.

My daughter is engaged! This time last year she was also engaged but to someone else. They broke up in March. So she has been engaged twice in one year. After her divorce from her kid"s dad she has really been doing great, in more ways than than this. I am so proud of her! So in 2015 there is a great chance two of my darlings will be star players in weddings. My son's wedding is supposed to be May 30, 2015! It will be his first. I don't want to jinx anything by talking too much about either wedding, but I am so happy for them! And excited! Also, more incentive for me to stay on my WOE down trending.

Friday is giving out candy for Halloween. Saturday is one grandson's birthday party. My daughter is also talking about my birthday the following week. Love that I get to celebrate another birthday, not crazy about the number. So don't ask! More birthdays in December plus the holidays to enjoy. I make no promises to the scale.

Car is still in the garage. Called again today. Mechanic is "working" on it. Over a month! Small town business, everyone they "know" or related to get their autos done first. Maybe mine is a bigger challenge. I will not stress!

Have a great day everyone!

Salt is my biggest problem, too. This is why I lose so slowly. You will get there. Congratulations for your daughter and son getting engaged. :)

Kattay, I know the feeling about the upward swing....and the birthday thing. In my case.....both. Yesterday was my birthday and the supper celebration with my family was the culprit causing the upward swing. Congrats on all three of the upcoming weddings. Sounds like you're going to be very busy for the next little while. Hang in there with the food adjustments. I have no doubt you'll figure it out. I'm rooting for you. Good luck with your car problems. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it soon. Dennis

Thanks dreamcatcher10. I need it! Yes, holidays, I so enjoy family, laughing, giving presents, nice dinners. Life is to be lived, I refuse to forego everything just to lose a couple of pounds. I will plan, scheme, exercise, smaller portions (one slice of pie, not l/4 of a pie). I have not bought a bag of Halloween candy because my daughter will have enough at her house and I will not bring any home. I will not be one of the those "all or nothing" people who feel that can't have any "forbidden" food which can lead to bingeing. Whatever works for the individual and this works for me.

Thanks Dennis. Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a great birthday. That weight will drop off, especially at the rate you are going. No worries! Its my son and my daughter getting married (fingers crossed).

Aww, happy 29th birthday!! You look fabulous and so well done - just look back at where you started here. Salt here too - same effect. So Mother of the Bride and Groom .. that's two dresses you get to buy in 2015. Pictures, we'll want pictures!

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. msbuggirl, the teriyaki chicken was one of those freezer variety, heat and serve. I would not have bought it but it was dinner with my daughter and her family. I had to see that engagement ring asap!

Congrats on your daughter getting engaged! It's frustrating when we gain weight due to salt and carbs, the good thing is it'll come off pretty quickly. Your having a good time with your family makes it worth it.

Thanks FullaBella! Birthday is next week and yep, I will be 29 again!! Cracks people up when I tell them I'm younger than my kids. Truth be told, I'm not kidding :) They have the stress of raising their kids and I get to enjoy life more now! I sit back and laugh when they tell me they don't know how I did it. I am appreciated more after they had kids of their own. I am already scanning online fancy dresses! Sons wedding is planned for May. Other wedding is being talked about for either September or October. Neither wants a big wedding.
