FullaBella's Journal, 02 Mar 14

Sunday afternoon, March 2nd (or is it 2cd? I never know for sure, I just know it's not the 2th or 2rd) and I'm home snuggling under a blanket in the recliner with Mushy snoring beside me. Nearly 80 degrees here yesterday, 27 today with sleet! No wonder I'm insane; I'm a product of my environment. Am sipping a cup of 'old Sunday faithful' (chicken tortellini soup). Breakfast was a bacon & spinach omlette.

Dinner last night was pancakes and sausage. Yes, pancakes. I'd said to Mushy on the drive home 'just think, kiddo... tomorrow is Sunday so we can sleep as late as we want and I think we'll have pancakes for breakfast...' and then I thought 'why wait? I don't know that I'll be hungry for pancakes in the morning but I'm hungry now and that sounds great.' And they were. Yum. I crossed the floor tiles toward the scale this morning with all the enthusiasm of a stow-a-way walking the plank but no uptick. No down tick either.

Ahh well, maintenance is good. A trader at the show yesterday commented 'you've really slimmed down a lot since I saw you last summer' and I said 'thank you but..' and then I stopped and said 'thank you.' The fact is 'scale' wise I've only lost about 5lbs. Yes, I've flat lined so long I wonder where those paddles are but don't dare find them for worry about the 'spike'. I think it's just clothes.

Last night my Grandson said, "Nana looks like she's lost even more weight, doesn't she Mom?" And Blondie said, "No, she just changed how she dresses." Uh.. okay. Have another pancake, dearie.

Mushy did fabulous on her first overnighter. The organizer gave me a large 'back table' for 'stuff' so she slept most of the show up there on her big pink travel bed resulting in hearing 'oh myy... how cuuuuuttte!' about a zillion times.' She is such a good baby and did extremely well in the hotel. Everyone commented on how well trained she is .. I would just say 'thank you' and rub her ears. I've never had her professionally trained; just years of being my velcro dog I guess. It's encouraging me to spend a few more nights away from home now. Next trip I'll try two nights. In a row. Haha.

I actually ate mindfully the entire time; go me, yay. I even managed to say 'no, thank you' the six times concessions came thru offering soda and chilled chocolate candy bars. Yes, chilled Snickers... sigh :-)

But for SOME reason I was FIXATED on 'Breakfast is served from 6am to 10am in the morning for about 12 hours.' Friday night we dined in-room for dinner (Cobb salad and a New York Strip) and I ate mindfully. So did Mushy. As long as I continued to give her bites of steak, she didn't mind at all. We saved half of it for her lunch Saturday but she didn't bite. (get it.. bite, LOL) Guess she isn't that comfortable eating in front of others right now either.

But I even woke yesterday at 5am thinking 'okay, dress.. take the tray.. get us some breakfast...' and then I had the funniest thought: Uh, oh, yeah, I'm not hungry. And it wasn't even a free breakfast that I could just go down and grab a couple of yogurts and fruit for later just in case. Weird. I 'think' it was luggage leftover from traveling with the grandson. I was always so acutely aware of feeding times because he's a growing boy. No need to keep up with one now if I don't have the other.

No buckets of money Saturday but after Friday it was a nice little dab of gravy on the biscuit from Friday. (Hey, just trying to write in the vein of 'All Things Food'.)

So, opinion time. Feel free to wade in with the Emily Post. Is it appropriate to continue referring to myself as Mrs? I'm so accustomed to doing that ala 'This is Mrs. Cutty in suite 209, I'd like to speak to in-room dining, please." I think of all the challenges I face day to day that's one of the harder ones: to remember I'm no longer married. Suddenly the past quarter of century is gone, poof, and I'm just some lonely old unmarried loser. I know that's not true; it's just how it feels some days. Being married felt like being in the Mafia; an instant 'protection' of sorts. Being widowed feels like I was kicked out of the family.

Well, think I'll post this before I get maudlin and go see what the Borgia's are up to on NetFlix. Hope you're dry and warm wherever you are; Spring is coming - just not today.

Emily signing in here...whatever suits your fancy is perfectly OK. Mrs. is just fine if that is your preference, or drop the Mrs. if that is your preference. And if you drop it, you can pick it up anytime, regards, Emily (Oh and good for Mushy on the over nighter!)

Hi Bella, I'm glad to read that you and Mushy are all tucked up and enjoying a lazy Sunday. Sound like your trade show was worth the trip and not just for the sales. You are right about the "2nd" bit and you should just continue with the "Mrs." If you prefer it. There is no hard fast rule about this, but it's perfectly acceptable to continue with the Mrs title. For me, I would carry on with Mrs. Take care.

I had a feeling that Mushy would do well..Now that you know that, you both can go any where you please...as for the Mrs..or MS or Miss..its your choice...no need to fret over such little thing...I would use Mrs..in case you don't want to be bothered by someone...if you know what I mean... I love a breakfast supper..Have a good evening my friend...:O)

I have to agree, use Mrs. for as long as you'd like... Forever if you choose... Whatever feels right to you, Angel. It sounds like your road trip went very well. And good for you for eating mindfully the entire time! You're my inspiration, once again! Xoxox

I love having breakfast for supper - good for you! I would have had a hard time not throwing a pancake at Blondie.. but that would have been a waste of good food. Glad you and Mushy had a good time at the overnight - I would have had a hard time passing up the chilled Snickers! 80 degrees for you yesterday.. I don't even think my body would know how to react to that temp right now...

Be Mrs forever if you like, it was given to you, its yours. However, if you want to have some fun with it you can start making up names to use at hotels and be whoever you want to be. Will anyone ever notice the difference? Perhaps Im just crazy lol. Regarding blondies comment quickly ruling out any additional weight loss, I have a friend who constantly does that to me. I say my new yoga pants are falling off, she says they loosened up in the wash. I say my ring is big on me after I just got it resized, she says maybe they made it the wrong size. I need new friends. Have a wonderful day, love. :-)

I think you're okay to be Mrs. Cutty as long as you want, Missus. You didn't actually stop being married to him, after all. He unfortunately had to stop participating, but it doesn't mean you stopped being married. I had a feeling Ms. Mushy would be a delightful traveling companion-she's likely had a wonderful time and is thoroughly pleased by how many people came by to say hello to her! :D As regards Blondie-sigh. No manners and no idea of the inherent value of same. Sadly, being nice, or at least not being mean, is becoming more and more a lost art.

So glad Mushy had a good time on the trip. Now you know you have a perfect traveling companion to go with you. :) As for the Mrs.. I know people who have done both. Either stayed Mrs. or gone Ms. Some stayed as a Mrs. until they met someone new. As for Blondie.. I'm sure you look amazing and it's just part of jealousy that she can't admit how hard you've worked or how great you look because of it.

Mrs is totally appropriate for a widow. My mom is still Mrs and my dad has been gone for more than 20 years! Glad Mushy did well on the trip!
