🙋Friday Weigh In & Weekly Updates for June 11 - 17, Week 24: This is yesterday's weight - no point in getting on scale today as I ate lots of junk food yesterday! (Popcorn, ice cream, mini pizza)

❎No Junk Food: 1/7 days YTD: 45.2% (76/168days) Well, one day junk food-free is better than zero last week! I don't know WHY I never feel full anymore? Could eat till I burst. I am not doing that much exercise to warrant extra calories; guess body just fighting to get me back to my highest weight (our bodies hate dieting! LOL)

❎Exercise (30+ mins cardio): 4/7 days YTD: 42.9% (72/168days) Giving myself an X this week because I could have/should have done more! Getting tired of these X's :(

Life update: Well, friends, as you can see, I am still struggling! Dammit, just can't find my groove. All I know is: I will keep moving forward!

You have a nice weight loss downward trend happening. A minor bump yesterday, continue on. I think exercise 4/7 is damn good.

Congrats on the consistent exercise regime. One of me weak points, I’m afraid. How are your carbs? I’ve made 2 serious attempts to lose weight in the past. Like most people, I ended up quitting because I was “tired of being hungry all the time.” I have high hopes that this time I will succeed, because I am making a real effort to get enough *protein!* It’s apparently a common phenomenon that the more carbs we eat, the hungrier we feel - and we feel it faster! Now when I get hungry, I snack, in moderation, on a few unsalted nuts, or some other high protein, low carb item; instead of chips, popcorn, or the like. It helps! Carbs apparently feed hunger; protein apparently diminishes it. In my experience anyway. Maybe try it? (BTW: It’s not that I do keto or anything remotely like it. Most days I fall a bit short of my weight-based protein requirement of 88g. If I get over 70 I consider that a win. But I have noticed that the closer I get to my target, the less I am bothered by hunger.)

Usually hunger is associated with low levels of serotonin. Taking 5-HTP is usually a life saver as long as your not on any other SSRI antidepressants. I would buy nature’s bounty as you need b6 and magnesium for it too cross the blood brain barrier. Take 1 on empty stomach 1 hour before you eat and 1 before bed. Bupropion is a prescription that has been very successful in clinical trials against over eating and has lead to weight loss. Don’t be hard on yourself it’s same near impossible to fight brain chemistry and biologics. There’s more to weight loss then will power alone. Also the book Atomic Habits is life changing 😊 Hope these tips might help you on your journey!

Thank @jl.labelle! I actually do take 5HTP, only 50mg at night tho (also take calcium-mag-zinc pill at that time) but I could easily add one in morning :) Damn, dieting certainly is harder at this stage of life LOL I appreciate the advice & will check out the book!

You're right @ kkkiera! I would love averages in the 6/7 days tho! Gonna work ittttttt :)

My daily protein goal is 100g or more, @grammalaura; actually professional medical advice is my goal should be closer 115-120g so, I can up it! I do have some healthy fibre-full carbs daily (my fibre avg is 40g); it's that damn useless calories-carbs-fat-sodium junk food I stuff in! LOL Just gotta keep focused on the quality nutrients & work on my mind :)

I know it's also something to do with low satiety (takes me a long time to feel full) plus possible leptin resistance - anyone familiar with these?? I know leptin-resistance diet plan is basically watch carbs, good protein, no snacking/late night, etc. Good basic rules :)

Besides 120ozs of water/day, I added DRY CURD cottage cheese to my plan to up the protein. 22g of protein per 1/4 cup, lower sugar/lactose than wet cottage cheese, then I added a tablespoon of coconut (MCT) oil and have it on a huge plate of mixed greens. the oil and protein helps with satiety. Good luck with your plan. I am also leptin sensitive so that restricts the carb intake. I am 70 years old now and have been relearning what I can and cannot eat for 50 years! We live and learn, eh?! All the Best.

Patti, what a great idea! I’m going to adapt it a bit and do the same. I have cottage cheese in the fridge but I never eat it except in my high protein pancake recipe. Thanks for posting this!
