FullaBella's Journal, 19 Dec 13

Thursday - December 19th. I managed to get in six hours of sleep last night - just not in a row. My poor little Mushy was still loopy after the four dental extractions and looks like she feels punished because I had to pick up her many toys and bones (so she won't chew and tear her stitches). We both looked so pathetic we went to bed about 8pm. I was up 10pm, 11pm and finally tossed in the sand at 12am when I decided to clean and organize the fridge and freezer and threw a lot of food into the trash. I decided I certainly wasn't going to eat pre-battered to be fried type fish & chips stuff nor am I in any mood to be having 'Sunday Dinner at Mom's' for Blondie's family any time soon .. so there.

Extending the olive branch I'd sent a pretty pamper yourself basket to her job for her birthday today with a note that she could use my spa tub bathroom (no husband or sons intruding her serenity or huge dogs jumping in the tub with her like at home) and I'd even set up a movie on the DVD player and serve her a brownie fudge sundae in the tub as her present.

That won't be happening as she's going out to get a TATTOO with her half-brothers. Yeah, that's a real FAMILY type celebration. Hence the food tossing at midnight. Yes, I realize I'm being a snit. I don't care. I pleaded in an email to NOT get it on her wrist as she mentioned but know my opinion counts for little so ... sigh.

All things food? After nibbling on Swedish meatballs for lunch yesterday I had a pork chop and baked yam for dinner and my ever so recent addictive oatmeal before bed. On reflection I realized the only 'green' food I saw all day was the mold on the sour cream but I tossed that so I just had a filet mignon and a fresh tossed salad with radishes, tomatoes and mushrooms for lunch. I'm not eating much in the mornings these days - probably because of the oatmeal at night. I seem to be doing a little bit better with the night stalker since giving up the yogurt and berries. Maybe it was the sugar in the fresh fruit. In fact, I was 'un-decorating' the 'birthday tree' I'd made for Cutty's 65th to use it again for Christmas and there were little boxes with 3 musketeer bars in them; I opened one and tossed it after a bite from the corner. Yeah, alert the press, Bella tossed chocolate, the end must be near.

So as the old saying goes ... 'keep your friends close, your enemies even closer.' So when BCF invited herself out for a THIRD time I accepted. She's SUPPOSED to come Saturday. I'll be doing my winter ice dance on the deck tonight. I did begrudgingly pick up a few 'things' to put together a Christmas bag of gifts for her (cookies, cheese & crackers, holiday plates, candle, art, etc.) in the event she doesn't arrive empty handed so I can stay on even ground. I know, bah Humbug, I'm the Grinch.

One of our friends did a security assessment for me this morning. He gave me a couple of suggestions but felt I was otherwise pretty locked down - this coming from a guy who assesses security for big time things like.. well, big time. So that was good.

I was walking around my home assessing the recent wall hangings and realized I don't have any of my photography up. So I'm going to pick up a handful of various size frames and print out some of those I've shared online in my journals. I may try to be cool & techy and add little inspirational sayings on them too. I'm not that cool & techy these days so I'd better pick up a box of photo-paper and a vat of color toner for 'getting the hang of it'. So how about you share your favorite saying with me - give me suggestions to put on the photos?

While I hear many people say 'I'll be glad when the holidays are over' I'm thinking I'm going to dread January as it means I'll need to take down all of the Christmas decorations I keep adding during my insane insomnia. I keep trying to pull myself out of this funk thinking 'one more tree, one more bow, that'll do it...' and now I think the funk is 'good grief Charlie Brown ... what were you thinking?'

Hope you're having a warm, wonderful day where ever you are today.

You are such a good soul, Angel, of the Eveready battery type... You just keep giving. It was so kind of you to offer that awesome gift to SD, and have a gift ready for BCF. I'm glad you had that security check, maybe you'll sleep better? And what a great idea to decorate with your paintings -- they are so beautiful... Just like you! Xoxox

Bella, you are a very nurturing step mom and friend, you know that? My son's friend drew a railroad track scene in pencil and framed it in a white matte board and silver frame. It is hanging over my fireplace in my office. She put an inspirational quote under it: "Destiny is no matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. - William Jennings Bryan
