Look at the zero calorie treat we got last night!!! For those of you from snow country, this is nothing, but for Seattle area this was a lovey Christmas gift! Even after moving to this area many moons ago, I still can't quite get used to having a green Christmas. The snow will be gone today I suspect, but it was so wonderful last night.

Clearly, I did not have an actual zero calorie day yesterday. Special goodies in the house create a challenge for sure. I am trying to be careful while also attempting to give myself grace.

The humming birds are busy, busy at the feeder this morning. My toes are toasty warm in the new slippers!

Merry Christmas, aintgotaname!! It was such a surprise. I am not sure I have ever seen such a beautiful snow fall. Some of the "snowclumps" (snowflakes somehow doesn't seem accurate) were two inches or more coming down. It didn't take long to cover everything beautifully!

The slippers and the peek into your window look very cozy and Christmasy! Wish we'd get a little snow here! We had a big wind and rain storm last night. Today I've got to clean and replace our hummingbird feeder. The little guys are hanging out waiting for me! ❤ Have a warm and wonderful day Melissa!!!

Thank you, 🐻!!! I wish the snow had made it south far enough for you to enjoy. We have sunshine today, so I'm just thrilled with how it is so bright with all the reflection off the snow. I think that is what I miss most... Bright sunshine on snow instead of dreary, soggy days. What a special treat it is to have some snow!!! ❤️ I find it absolutely amazing that the hummingbirds manage when it is freezing. I've noticed heated feeders are being sold at our local feed store. Iin freezing weather I alternate between two... One inside thawing and another outside.

Wow!! Hummingbirds in the snow. Ours all fly south for Winter. Love a bit of snow if it doesn't come & inconvenience us too much. We can't get our our driveway if we get much 😊 Nice you got some during the Christmas season!

SherryeB, it is the Anna's humming birds that stay here year round. They aren't as flashy as some other hummers, but the boys do have red throats and are a lovely green. Apparently they go into an almost hibernation state at night in the freezing weather, but are really buzzing in the morning. I make sure the feeder is ready. Any bit of snow on the roads halts this city! I have never seen ice like accumulates here, and the hills everywhere... Think San Francisco steepness! It is insane!

this is the perfect amount of snow for me.

One year we put a lamp near the feeder but a hummers foot got stuck to it, because I guess something similar to putting your tongue on a frozen pole. I went to help it but it got free on its own after much flapping about. Thankfully it wasn't harmed, but after that I just swap out two feeders now when one freezes. We keep the feeder on our deck so we don't have to go across the yard or down icy steps. Less stress all the way around! I never knew some stuck around all year but we've been feeding them every winter now for about 23 years!

I would wish for more, katsolo, but only if I don't have to drive in it. We were snowed in for 10 days one winter. Literally! We had a very long, steep drive back then and had friends pick us up at the road to go grocery shopping. 😁

Ohhh, 🐻, you must have felt dreadful seeing the poor thing fluttering for freedom. 😢 What a lot of generations of beautiful little jewels you have cared for! ❤️

Thank you, Bill! Ocean girl, I am so happy to have toasty toes. Frozen feet make me miserable, and they have been cold all winter so far until now. Have a wonderful day! ❤️

What do the cats think?

Great snow pictures Melissa! 😍

Well, they are indoor only. We have raccoons that notoriously kill cats in the area, and we just love our kitties too much to let them out. They keep busy running around together up and down stairs and all round, and there is almost always a family member home to keep them company. They watch their TV of squirrel and birds right outside the window. So, all that to say... They didn't notice the snow! 😁

Melissa, watch this. so amazing and funny, too. One of my favorite learning videos ever. It is ever so slightly saucy, but you will learn something. Unless you're already a hummingbird expert. In which case, you probably should have shared that earlier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Biagyb7AcK8

I’ve never seen hummingbirds in snow! It’s warm when they are around here, and they are multi colored. Glad you can enjoy your snow!

Thank you, dear Becky! Katsolo, I shall watch that video! Thank you. I am surely no expert. 😊
