abbadabba's Journal, 29 Dec 10

I have passed up the chocolates (plus) but succumbed to the knish and carmel popcorn (time will tell!). So much willpower required! My daughters are due in today - they have had a long trip back!

No more snow but we still need to do some shoveling to tidy up the driveway - my family is supposed to come and visit tomorrow, but I haven't actually been in contact with my dad so the key player might be missing. I have to get some food just in case - I have a list but I need to get lots more salad than I have.

I am grateful that I can trust my ex to take care of my daughters. Grateful that I have a nice home to wait in for them to come to. Grateful that I know that my ex has good taste in women (or did!) and that the girlfriend is probably treating my girls well despite the 3 days of travel!

Gotta get my finances straightened out for year-end tax advantages! Hope you have a Great Wednesday!

PS - I have been looking over my diet calendar, and I have come to the conclusion that I underestimate how many calories I am eating. I plan to buy myself some measuring spoons to carry in my purse, because I think the one big perpetrator of calorie overload in my life is salad dressing. Must be undercounting that. And undercounting milk too. Measuring coffee milk as of today.

Happy your daughters are finally coming home and hope you have an awesome time with them. I know how hard this holiday must have been without them but you did great Abba!

Measuring spoons are a great boon...even if one feels dumb doing it at first. When you measure for your coffee make note of the color the coffee turns and eventually you can begin to go by that instead of having to measure every time. I measure sugar & halfnhalf (changed to tea, not using near as much of that) almost every time because those calories add up fast. It's much easier to eyeball the bigger stuff...except pasta. :)
