Glad knee is improving Melissa. Are you able to do upper body weights at all? I’m sure you’re not losing as much muscle as you think. Btw, how’s your daughter doing now? Hope all is well and improving day by day. ❤️🙏

Thanks guys! ♥️ sk, my grey matter feels like it is withering too!😔 Wifey, yes, I can, but the bulk of calorie burning muscle resides below the waist! 😁 I'm trying!

Awwww it’s all you can do luv. I know how much you love to run. My brother ran, no pun intended, into the same problem a few years ago and actually realized he had to change things up. He invested in a spin bike and it saved his legs from being amputated he says. 🙃 Also, interestingly, he found a new way to position his legs while sleeping that made a world of difference. Maybe research that and see if it could help you too. Hope so!! xo

Glad your knee is feeling better Melissa! Muscles have memory! I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that technique is important to limit the impact years of running can have on joints. Back to the basics and steady as she goes! 🏃‍♀️ Good Luck!

Wifey, I am glad your brother found something he could do to replace his running. If I can get back to even race walking, I will be grateful. I sure will kept looking for answers!

60pack, I am sure my muscles will be happy to bounce back, but I am still cross to be losing conditioning. Interestingly, I don't think it is my joints that are the problem. From all I have been able to figure out, it is iliotibial band that is too tight and irritated. I many have given myself a muscular imbalance, which I am trying to work through. A combo of stretching, rest, and strengthening seems to be key, but it is slow... even if I am doing this right. Gah... They call it an "syndrome," which seems quite ominous, but it also is pretty common. Of course, that is assuming I know what I am talking about! :) Yes, Eva, improvement is encouraging! I just wanna RUN!

Back in my running days I sometimes stretched my LCL (outer area of the knee) by sitting down and back on turned out heels and rocking left to right. But it appears your pain is in the hip area?

60pack, it is really along the outside of my knee that burns. I am trying to do a variety of hip abduction exercises to strengthen the glute medius. Everything I have read points to this being the likely issue for me. There is tenderness all the way down my leg from hip to knee, but the main pain in along the side of my knee. Both were actually bothering me for a while, strange as it may seem, I am thankful it wasn't just one. It seems less a real injury than just overuse or muscular imbalance I need to correct. I have done a ton of different kinds of squats and dead lifts for months, but I haven't trained some of the other muscles I might have been more likely to touch on if I was at a gym. I am also trying to do some more stretching, but I have to be careful, because my knee got really irritated and made things worse for a while doing too much. NewnamewhodisMM, I am afraid today wasn't all that grand and it felt worse as the day progressed. I have no idea why. I did some light lifting, which I don't think was too straining. Oh well... I am sure it will get better in time!

May it ITB syndrome for which you need to do streching using a foam roller

I didn't see this yesterday- but in all fairness- I wasn't on a bunch... And I never have good advice- just well wishes- as you know. 💗
