Orly Girl's Journal, 25 Jul 20

Ok so this is the week I increase my daily exercise by taking 3 longer walks a day, starting in the AM before the heat starts. This is outside my regular dog walks, because my dog loves to stop and smell so I never get a good pace with him. My goal is to stay above 5,000 steps a day to start. I also plan to do a daily 30 min bike ride. I'll reassess next week. My body needs more movement and my self care does too.

And I'll start preparing more proper meals, no more chips and chocolate for meals, lol!! I've been deep cleaning my kitchen to start meal prepping instead of lounging around outside all day, then running in when I'm starved!!

I can't believe I've gone from 15,000 plus steps a day to around 3,500 since quarantine!! My goal is to stop gaining weight.

Yes! I had a pineapple, sweet onion, celery and rice salad tonight with a small handful of dark chicken meat! And a rye sandwich with summer sausage, lettuce and hot mustard. No junk food today, and I ate right!

That's a really good idea. I started going on walks daily a few months ago. After the first few days, my feet were sore, I felt inconfortable because of how heavy I am and needed a few minutes every morning to be able to walk. I kept going every day and now I enjoy it and don't get sore nearly as much. I'm amazed by how quickly the body adapts to almost everything.

Yes, Don Trapper, me too! At work I walk a lot, and it's good for my achy foot/leg/knee pain once I've built it up. But I've been home for a while now, and I can feel the stiffening of the joints which alarms me a bit so I have to get that range of motion going again without overdoing it. I'm used to 15,000 steps a day by "normal" activity, so being at home all of the time and puttering in the garden is doing nothing for strengthening my lower joints, in fact they've weakened. Also walking in flip flops or Birkies doesn't help, lol, time to unpack my running shoes (from work)!
