FullaBella's Journal, 19 Jun 13

Thank you all for the very kind, supportive and endearing comments on my journal yesterday. I could feel your prayers, love, positive thoughts and hugs over the internet. You are very special people and I am fortunate to have you as friends.

And you're right - it would be fantastic to just head for the horizon to share a beer and the sunset. However, it is not a possibility. I posed the idea last night and was reminded of all of the things beyond the oxygen concentrator that would be needed in order to maintain his sense of comfort outside of his own specially customized 'bio-dome'. We would need a U-Haul of equipment in addition to a guarantee he'd have the same size TV (73" screen), satellite channels and central heat & air with his own personal remote thermostat control among so many other things. It would be easier to set up a klieg light and dump a foot of sand into the living room.

But we did spend the evening (well, not the whole evening but at least an extended commercial break) fantasizing about it as well as reminiscing past adventures. Back in the day he was the icon of unpredictable spontaneity. I kept a bag packed in the trunk because it was not uncommon for 'going for a drive' to involve crossing a couple of state lines and an overnight stay.

My friend had loaned me her 'happy light' with dismal results. I think like the vitamins I had set the bar too high for expectations against the hormonal hell that blows in with the rainclouds.

The 'beginning of the end' from Monday - well, that wasn't the first time to have to face his mortality nor will it be the last, nor will I make that the focus of our lives every day. It was just the most unfortunate timing. Note to self: try not to mix reality with rainy days.

Thank you all again. Please know although I missed commenting on your journals the past few days I did read them and I do care about you too.

Bella

As I read the 2nd paragraph of your journal, I started to think, why not bring the beach & a beer to him... but you, my wise friend, did exactly that in your own way. Hope you'll continue to find comfort in your wonderful memories. And, continue to let us support you -- you support so many of us, in so many ways -- thank you letting us give back! xoxox (P.S. And, yes, cancel any future dr appts if they turn up on a dreary day!)

Keep it real & simple Bella - that's the way I like to roll!

In the words of The Carpenters: "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down." Keeping up a brave front is very tiring and pretty much impossible to keep up all the time. And keep all those feelings bottled up for too long and you are bound to explode. So a well timed release is the only way to control the pressure level. I hope it worked and that you start to regain your happier disposition real soon :)

Just read your journal from yesterday, Bella, and my heart absolutely broke for you. What you're going through now is surely as tough as life gets. Nothing can really console you just now, obviously, but from the comments you've had, you are clearly hugely loved by so many people on this site. You have to be one of the kindest, bravest, funniest souls around. Thank you for sharing your life with us all.

Loved all the cartoons! They made me laugh out loud : ) This life journey is fascinating. There are so many good things ahead in the days to come we can t begin to imagine all the greatness in store for us. There will be sad and hard and stormy weather and the sun ultimately does shine again sometimes when we least expect it.

I understand how you won't be able to get away with the hubby but Bella what about getting some care for him for a day or two and getting away yourself...even if it's close enough by that you can run home if you need to.. I think even that kind of break would do you a world of good. Loved your cartoons..Hope you are enjoying your evening!!

Reminiscing can go either way...sounds like it was a pleasant distraction for you both. Good! Bless you. And thanks for the cartoons. I especially like the first one....kinda like food confessions...my favorite :-)

I used to rent the biggest RV I could find and drive it to Sanibel Island, FL when I had the extra funds. They probably make them with big A$$ TV's now too. Just a thought. Funny cartoons! :) Hope your week keeps getting better.
