Debbie Cousins's Journal, 23 Mar 20

Completed day #17 of drinking 48oz water and walking at least half a mile a day. It feels good to be doing SOMETHING right, though there are still MANY areas to improve in. One of my grean bean pots has FIVE sprouts in it now. Rained overnight and still drizzling, so haven't gone out yet to see if there are any new growths.

I got VERY stressed last night! Heard, "I don't give a F---" coming from our live-in's room, which I had heard a couple weeks ago right before I discovered that he was plastered from drinking beer. There are two conditions of him living with us for the past two years: NO alcohol, only smoke outside. Last time, I made my husband give him an ultimatum that if it ever happens again, he's OUT. I had my husband go and check on him, and he was sleeping on his couch, at 7pm (he usually doesn't go to bed until 8:30 or 9). My husband didn't want to wake him up to find out if he had been drinking, so I wasn't able to find out definitively until this morning. In the interim, though, I was SUPER stressed - unable to go to sleep in spite of having taken an Ambien, then added a cyclobenzaprine, then finally added two benedryl, each with about an hour interval between them. I ended up not being able to go back to bed until after 1am and my neck and shoulder muscles are still hard as rocks this morning. He says he was NOT drinking yesterday, so all that stress was for nothing. But I'm still angry that I "had to" get stressed in the first place!

Husband has cataract surgery early this afternoon, and then a follow-up appointment tomorrow and a colonoscopy next Monday. None of the doctors has cancelled the appointments, so we'll at least get out of the house for awhile.

Debbie, you're doing great. We all have things we can work on. If we didn't, we'd be saints, not mere mortals. Hang in there. The cataract surgery is truly miraculous. He'll be pleased. Have him ask for propofol for anesthetic for the colonoscopy. You wake up feeling absolutely wonderful, rested and happy. I wanted to go back and have another colonoscopy the next day!

Good to know about the propofol, @metamora! I'll be sure to tell him that!
