Debbie Cousins's Journal, 26 Jan 20

Yesterday was a bad day, and today is starting out even worse. It started with having some nachos with my grand daughter yesterday, and went downhill from there. I DID record everything I ate. Only drank about 16 oz of water yesterday, and about four cans of Diet Coke. Started out this morning with Diet Coke and a bacon & tomato sandwich (as in BREAD with potato chips! At the party today, we're going to be having fried (breaded) chicken drummettes (and pizza, which I probably won't have any of, just because it is Domino's or Little Caesar's instead of Pizza Hut). I've resigned myself to not even recording what I'm eating today. Sigh. Also, only walked 0.3 miles yesterday (which was going to grocery store for cake and Dollar Tree for party decorations). Sigh. They say, "Confession is good for the soul" but my soul doesn't feel any better after just blurting all this out. Hope YOU are doing better than I am!

It is not that bad Debbie. Just a few foods. Nothing to worry about. Onwards

Yes, start over tomorrow. Get back on track as fast as you can, that's how you get back your momentum. The longer you drag out getting back on track, the harder it is to get back on track. Don't linger. Whatever determination you had for the last weeks, which was very impressive, you still have that in you. Reach for it, make it happen. Don't let it beat your goals.

No shame or guilt . . .shame and guilt are the toxins that circle in the drain, and I can drown down the drain in the vicious cycle. I love myself for who I am at this moment in time, and the wise adult in me who guides me each day appears to embrace my frightened inner-child and has a dialogue with my inner child about how much the wise adult unconditionally loves my inner child and is committed to be by the inner child's life every moment of his life, protecting him and guiding him to make the right decisions, one-step-at-a-time. The first healthy decision that my wise adult nurtured my inner child to embrace was to surrender diet drinks and embrace pure water to purify me of all toxins. And now I have accepted and love that I no longer need diet drinks. Thank you wise adult because at so many points in life I am that scared inner child, and it is difficult to move through change, but then I know you are there to dialogue with me and nurture my soul, and I can move forward with no shame nor guilt. I am not alone. I love you.

I second the comments! Remember, great sportswomen sometimes lose their game. Often their loss has the following effect: they re-evaluate their strategy, constantly focussing on improving themselves. Don't let a little setback discourage you from reaching your goals!

Why not go ahead and do your best to record? You can take the breading off the chicken to make it a little healthier and less calories. Hope your day gets better!

I'd write it down. For no other reason that it keeps you in practice when you need to look back at the week/month/year to see what was working and what wasn't. You can take pics with your phone to remember and log tonight. That's why I have random unnamed pics of food posting from time to time, but it works.
