Clairsheart— thanks for the congrats. I have been on FS for about 18 months. I am not dieting myself, if anything I would like to put on a couple pounds but I have a tough time keeping it on. I started with a couple friends who really needed to have a tool to help them with their weight loss. They quit and I stayed. Both of the people that I started on FS with have since died of diabesity related issues. I have lost about 8 people, friends and acquaintances, due to diabetes in the last 18 months. It is such a sad thing.

OH MY Kenna! So many people and if type 2 so preventable. I worry about my niece's little girl who struggles with type 1 diagnosed when she was 3. She is in Florida and I've never met Story the last time I saw my niece her older daughter was a baby. We keep up on face book.

Wholefoodnut— one of these days— soon —there is going to be a fix for diabetes. type (1]. I read and research and I feel it in my bones. But I think that the fix is going to be an artificial pancreas and or stem cells. They already have an implantable artificial kidney that shows immense promise that is the size of a silver dollar. Gosh— have many people here even seen a silver dollar. Your nieces little girl was born at the right time. If they help her take excellent care of herself she may be among those that are cured. Meanwhile, those that are living with these things now have to take the best care of themselves that they can so that they might be eligible to benefit if science, technology and medicine continue to advance as fast as it has in the last 15-20 years.

Type 2 is another issue. Obesity and mental health issues for some that prevent them from being able to control their eating behaviors. .. I have been to several multi- day conferences on obesity and it’s the mental health issues that are nearly impossible to “fix”. A week or so ago I went to a monthly luncheon get together with some past coworkers. One individual ate a huge lunch and piece of pie and ordered another whole pie to go. She laughed and said— what can I say, I like to eat. She went home and died sometime in the evening or night. She was a type2 diabetic. We have not heard anything regarding the autopsy report as of yet. Just makes me sick.

Kenna, you are an amazing person! Keep supporting people, it’s precious. My ex father in law reversed his D2 by eating keto/HFLC with my help. At almost 70, it took him a bit more than 6 months to lose 15lbs and he now feels way better.

Velveteen— I’m so glad the Keto diet is working for him. the big issue with Keto is the absence of crucial micro nutrients that our bodies require. This can be a serious issue.
