Steven Lloyd's Journal, 20 Oct 18

Back from our Italy trip and in spite of some great food and lots of good vino rosso, I am 2 to 3 pounds down from pre-travel weight (which was a few pounds down from 198 set weight).

There were only a few really big meals, we walked a lot (many days over 18k steps, one day over 32k steps), hiked a lot...amazing, world class hiking at Cinque Terre and on the Amalfi coast...and even got two bike rides in.

Not much resistance training on the trip, so I will be working on the upper body (arms, shoulders and back) over the next 8 weeks to get prepped for my first back country ski trip on Dec 12. Legs, cardio and core are pretty good right now, so barring another injury things should work out ok.
89.8 kg Lost so far: 19.1 kg.    Still to go: 0 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

… sometimes you 'gotta go to Italy'! :) Glad you had a good time. Travel for me is a disaster 'weight wise' so I have to admit I am jealous of you! Haha

La vita bella è il vino rosso! Fantastico! So glad you had a great vacation.

Thanks ADWS and Frankie!! My goal was to at worst gain a couple pounds up to set weight or stay level. Keeping track of input on FS, especially "adult hydration" and pizza, intermittent fasting after the over indulgences, along with some unexpected larger calorie burn days kept things in check.

Also, it doesn't always work out to lose weight, but my goal on vacation is to enjoy the social meals but keep fitness at level or improve.

Good job!!😁 Walking does not save me when travelling in Europe😅😋☺️. Even if I walk there over 30k steps each day (could be also in the shops). Sooo gourmande🙈

Haha Marishka, I hear you, for us too, walking alone wouldn't have kept up to the exquisite meals we shared 🍷🍕🍝...

Caperbike, and JF...it was amazing! We loved getting off the beaten track more than the touristy bigger cities, one of our favorite areas was in rural Tuscany...near some of our favorite wineries...we'll be going back for sure.

I would be like that, too, Steven ... more into the countryside and smaller towns ... vineyards... oh yes!!! I loved going to England, but really loved the areas outside of London ... loved the wild Cornwall area and Devon ... even loved Plymouth. Lost weight too and it felt like we were eating all the time. I guess we kept moving and burning it off.

Thnx Bill, a meal we had in Florence would have been right up your alley... (Bistecca alla Fiorentina) Florentine steak...think Fred Flinstone sized, super tender T-bone, cooked rare. Delicious!!! I logged it as 17 oz's but it could have been more 😯😊. Next few days were pretty sparse trying to "recover", LOL.

Yup CTD, it was pretty awesome, lots of history, natural beauty and culture.

For sure Mom...loved seeing some of the more famous sites, but really enjoyed the smaller towns and lifestyle there.

Oh ya, Caprese salad was a big hit...fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese that doesn't taste like anything we've had before, fresh olive oil, basil, salt and for me a little balsamic vinegar...mmm. Tasty and healthy (I think).
