Well done bill! Would you recommend your tanita.. I’ve had 3 duronic scales and the last one now only measures body weight. For my health, I really need to get down my % body fat, which was a massive 50% when I started FS.. and I also , like yourself, retain fluid after some meds/treatments so the numbers are helpful.. I can see tanita model 534 here on amazon for £50.. am considering biting the bullet and buying one.. what do you think? Thanks Have a great Sunday and hope you’ve caught up on some more sleep 😴

Thanks, Glen, Wright, and Gaelicgal! Yes, I would highly recommend the Tanita. Let me look at that 534 for you to ensure it does what mine does. Although they are estimates, what you can be sure of it that it tracks the relative trends in your body. It's invaluable to know what is water and what is body fat.

Yep, this one will work great! The Tanita BC-534 Body Composition Monitor uses the same accurate BIA technology used for monitoring body fat as found in our professional models. BIA sends a safe, low-level electrical signal through the body. The signal passes freely through the fluids contained in muscle tissue and blood, but it encounters difficulty when passing through fat tissue, which contains little water. By using the impedance reading, the BC-534 can quickly and reliably calculate Weight, Body Fat %, Body Water %, Daily Caloric Intake, Bone Mass, and Metabolic Age.

Hey thanks so much For your advice Bill.. it’s in my amazon shopping cart for when I get paid.. I’m really working on getting my %body fat down ( it was 48-52% for years), so the right numbers are a real motivator for me.. I got down to 32% before my current scales stopped working, so it’s worth investing a bit more 😉 Yay! #excited!!

Wow! Great job on that. I can't wait to hear how the new numbers work out!

Gg, the Hangsun is a less expensive option, won’t compute your metabolic age. Will give you the rest and a caloric intake that you can ‘supposedly eat’ to maintain the weight. You input your age and height. It will do up to 10 preset ‘people.’ I’ve been pretty happy. I think it’s the generic version of Bill’s. LOL 🙋🏻‍♀️

Good tips, SMP. The metabolic age is just a braggy thing anyway. Always tells me I'm 40 years younger than I am. The RDI thing is interesting but heavily dependent on water content. I record it but don't use it for anything.

Tanita are a good make, gaelicgal. I've had mine for years and they still weigh accurately (only weigh me though - not all the other fancy things - lol!).
