Draglist's Journal, 08 Oct 17

Gained .2 in the last week (well, gained about 5-6 and then lost it again on the weekend). Just reviewed all my journal entries since March 1, 2017. What I discovered (and hindsight is 20-20) is that my weight climbed from 199 on March 15 to the low 220s by September 2017 with the addition of extra calories each month. As my calorie target went up, so did my average weight. When I changed from a 2100 calorie goal in September to 1830 calories in October, I've dropped to the 215-216 range again. I think the 'reverse dieting' thing is not working. I burn very few calories and have a very low resting metabolism. I need to accept that. Based on this, I'm changing my daily calorie goal the rest of the month and going forward. It's back to 1650 per day (on average). That is a solid 10 calories per estimated pound of lean body mass. The rest of the energy I need can come from my body fat. I will probably eat more than that on certain days and eat less than that on others, but that will be my goal. I'm keeping the protein and carb macros the same. The difference will be in the number of fat calories I eat. This starts tomorrow. UPDATE: Some laxative tea kicked in and I'm down to 214.8 (a .8 loss over the week). But I'm still going back to 1650 calories.

I like your logic Bill...if it makes you feel any better I think I'm in the same boat. I'm a bigger guy than you and if I don't keep up my exercise activity I start storing fat and gaining weight at about 2000 cal per day.

Good drop. I unintentionally do calorie cycling I think, which I've read helps keep the metabolism up. Have a great day, Bill!

That's the thing I like about logging everything here on Fatsecret. It gives me the data to review my progress. That allows me to tweak my exercise and diet to go after the results I seek. The last ten pounds is crunch time. it will be the best ten pounds you ever lost...

Not sure what WOE you are following. My researching found that calories in calories out is a fallacy. I ended up getting HCG1234 drops and do VLC with very low carbs, moderate protein plus I add fat but keep calories between 500-800 which is only possible on Hcg. This is after a lifetime of dieting failure. Since the HCG targets just abnormal fat I'm looking forwarded to keeping up my success. Hope this info helps you, gives you something to think about.

What is HCG?

Patricia you can google HCG and diets and get a lot of good unbiased information there...lots of research done regarding HCG and also how it got started on the diet game...heads up though, buyer beware.

Also Ruth, just a heads up, lots of folks do VLC (Very Low Calorie) diets without HCG, and even fasting which is zero calories in a day. Results are controversial at best for lasting benefits of VLC diets to long term weight loss.
