Draglist's Journal, 03 Nov 15

Woke a 224.4, up nearly 10 pounds over two days. Too many carbs and sodium both days despite light calorie deficits. Went low cal today with a lot of water intake. Two more days of that before my physical on Friday. Maybe some answers will come from that. UPDATE: Came in at 222.8 after work so some recovery during the workday. Had to bring more work home and worked until 1:00 am so no workout. Low calories still generated 1000 deficit.

Bill I've had calorie deficits most days on paper at least but too many carbs and above a certain level of calories it seems I gain...seems we are similar in that regard. Good luck moving forward. We know what to do, just need to execute on plan!

No sweat Bill, you took your break now it's time to get back on track! I know you will do it and that 10 lb's will be gone in no time flat. :D

You gained 10 right away, you'll lose 10 right away. Bill, we have to get down and catch Jim! He's really getting to almost his goal weight. You know what got you there right. Good luck

It is true. Calories in and out don't mean a thing if they are empty calories (usually high carb foods). Your body is getting tired and begging you to listen and look at how it is affected every time you eat an overload of carbs. Do you get heartburn as well? The medicine for heartburn will also cause you to gain weight. I know from experience over the last 12 years. I still have to take it on occasion but when I do ... weight goes up.

Stess (Lord knows you have had a lot of stress recently) and lack of sleep will cause weight gain. I suppose you could look into adrenal stress as that will cause brain fog and irritability. Keep searching for answers. Just keep eating whole foods and drinking lots of water ... take lots of B-Complex ... good for stress.

Bill, I can tell you from my own experience that I feel heaps better on the days I take a B-Complex vitamin. They are water soluble, so you can't overdose on them. (You pee them out) Not only do you feel happier, you do "p" more (it's a bright yellow) and you tend to be focused and have more energy. Another thing to try in your smoothies is Spirulina. I don't know why these things work, but they do.

You are welcome, Bill. Keep me posted. I am taking a B-Complex now. I have my mom with me. :o) Not sure why family is so stressful. LOL!

Not meaning to hijack Bill's journal but I had no idea heartburn meds can cause weight gain, I'll have to look into that as I take a medication for acid reflux daily.

In answer to Jim ... hell yeah that cause weight gain and the doctor will not tell you that. I took Nexium or Prilosec for years before I found this out ... along with a weight gain of 50 pounds in less than a year and another 10 the next year. I later read online in a forum for acid reflux complaints and realized why I had such a crazy weight gain that year. I have never weighed so much in my life. I lost about 9 pounds right away after stopping the Nexium. No kidding. It took a lot of courage. Almond milk helps acid reflux and if you can stand it ... apple cider vinegar.
