Draglist's Journal, 01 May 14

Starting out the month of May pretty well. Reset my IIFYM macros based on my 211 pounds (waking) on May 1. Reset them for 1 gram of protein and .45 grams of fat per pound of muscle mass. Formerly, these numbers were set to higher / lower amounts, respectively (IIFYM recommended). But I was rarely able to hit the protein number. I think these new, more realistic numbers will work out great.

Up to 212.0 for a pre-dinner weigh in after 211.0 this morning. Have had regularity issues for three days, which explains much of it. Upped my good fat intake tonight (almonds) to get near my macro and pulled out the big guns on the issue: Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears. These little translucent, multicolored beauties have achieved legendary status as the ultimate go-to laxative. There are tomes written about their efficacy and they are recognized as being so effective that vendors now charge a surplus for them -- when you can find them at all. For months, they've been on amazon.com for 30 dollars, but I scored a pound of them for about 15 the other day. First day, I took three to be safe. Nothing. Yesterday, I upped it to six. Nothing. Tonight, I went to 13 (the recommended serving) and had dinner. An hour later, nothing. So I popped ten more. At this point, I'm going to see what it takes (if it works at all). If not, well, I guess I'm the new champ over what is considered the baddest product out there. By the way, Konsyl psyllium had a good rep, too, and it failed with me.

Anyway, will do a bit of weight lifting and as much treadmill work as I need to hit my maximum fat metabolizing rate for today. Happy May, everyone!

Eat more bulk and veggies. Forget the laxatives. Also try eating probiotics and downing a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Trust me!

Try Dieters Tea found at the grocery store or health food store. It never fails. Let it steep a long time---10minutes

Bill, when the pipes don't work well, it's an issue. My go to is mineral oil. It's completely tasteless. Two tablespoons before your coffee for a couple of days should help. I don't overdo this, just when desperate. It doesn't work as a laxative per se but coats the bowel allowing easier passage. Gross I know but what the hell we are good friends, right? Good luck. Think of the whoosh effect to come :).

I've had the same experience as Sarah's mom. I used MCT Oil with my coffee and it is highly effective - it has not failed me yet when everything else has.

You can also try Senekot - a natural laxative. Take 1-2 before bed.

I added chia seeds in the morning when I take my MCT oil - has helped a lot! BTW,was reading reviews on Amazon for the Haribo sugar free gummy bears - hilarious!!!

Hoping one of the various remedies here works. At some point though, might be worth a call to your doc. Could potentially be a sign of something bigger going on.

Ppppam - thanks for mentioning the gummy bears reviews on Amazon. I'm now looking for the exercise "Rolling around on the floor in hysterics". I'm sure it should be under strenuous ;-)
