Woke at 232.0, up .2 from yesterday. Starting five day OMAD fasting mimicking diet to end the month. UPDATE: Looking forward to tonight's weigh in... I can't stay out of the bathroom! Whoosh! UPDATE: Got to 228.0 before dinner after fasting all day and making repeated trips to the rest room! The whoosh came through! Ate 800 calories of nuts and veggies (and a protein drink and salad dressing). OK, so not exactly what Valter Longo recommended. Now I'm on to five days of OMAD and 500 calories of veggies.

Did you buy the kit - or are you DIYing?

I bought his book and read it (Valter Longo), but found: 1) His diet is very expensive to purchase and consists of freeze dried foods - yuk! And 2) He emphasises low protein, which really doesn't work well for me. So, the book was interesting, but missed the mark for me. Let us know how you do it and how it works for you.

Low protein is one of main things many longevity theorists stress, I thought.

Hey Bill, just read a short article posted by member jparlett regarding metabolism. It's information probably both of us have read before but presented in a concise, organized way. Good info. applicable to us older folks that are either trying to lose weight or even just maintain...wishing you GREAT success on your adjusted program as always, take care mate!!

Bill, I think both of us are in the same boat as far as low resting heartrate (a good thing) and low basal metabolic rate goes. A lower than normal (efficient) metabolic rate is not necessarily a bad thing, unless we overindulge and don't offset that with some activities through the week. I've found that now for me an "on papaer" deficit of +/- 250 calories per day is my break even point for fat loss/gain...my ACTUAL balance is right around that number with that 250 calorie differential likely me under-recording intake or my heart rate based activity monitor over reporting output...no issues either way for me, just good to know. Again, I have a lot of respect for your consistent efforts over the years here on FS in spite of your medical challenges....hope your week, month and years ahead are truly blessed!!

👍👍...I liked that it identifies some of the different diet challenges faced by each of us as we lose weight and get closer to goal and maintenance.
