Aka FatGirlJenny Beginning weight 243 lbs in March 2013, size 22-24. Lost the weight within a year & have kept it off for over 2 years. The plan is to maintain at 155 lbs for now. I lost 7+ years (more like 12, but 7+ was chronic) of my life to depression. I was tried on several meds that had no effect. I missed out on so much of my kids' lives, and I honestly don't know why/how my husband stayed with me. Anyway, it was not only the depression, but my cognitive performance suffered GREATLY. I had gotten to the point to where I could not even comprehend a business letter. I would have to read a half page letter 4-5 times to understand what was it saying (now I'm reading 300 page scientific based books in just a few days). I could no longer even complete the 1,2,3 process of washing dishes. It was like I had almost forgotten how, hard to explain. I was at the Dr crying every month, telling them that I was losing my mind. The Dr put me on ADD meds, which had little effect. I then started the LCHF diet, but initially for weight loss. I had no clue that it would help me mentally (ADD, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY), or help me come off of other meds like high blood pressure meds, and no longer be prediabetic & avoid statins. All of a sudden, I noticed MAJOR improvement in these areas. I started researching if it could possibly be the diet change. Sure enough, I found the evidence that backed that theory.I had tried every diet and gimmick in the book that I had found "healthy" and nothing worked. My lifetime of dieting had only been successful if I was absolutely starving myself. Then, I got an inbox from a now dear friend on FB telling me about the Ketogenic diet. I thought to myself, this sounds dangerous with so much fat. So, I started researching it. After reading several studies, articles, and watching many YouTube videos on the subject I was convinced that it was not only safe but should have been common sense. www.dietdoctor.com
